Boondocks Lab is an incubation and creative laboratory operated by the Boondocks Incubation Center.
The thirty-acre estate in Machakos is where the experiments live: film sets, structures, livestock, classrooms, and archives — all built and run on the same ground. Every project is developed in public, documented as it happens. Some become companies, some become films, and some fail honestly — with the receipts published either way.

Thirty acres of stubborn black cotton soil in Machakos, granted to the experiment by the Samlen Foundation. Everyone said it grows nothing. We're growing a farm, a film studio, a school, and a new way of working — all from the same dirt.
The Boondocks Lab is an experiment: can three humans and a stack of AI models do the work of an organization? No investors. No offices. Just voice notes, WhatsApp messages, calloused hands, and a camera that never stops rolling. We build in public — the wins, the losses, the goats.

TERRA PRETA: BUILDING BLACK GOLD.
The first experiment on the estate: making terra preta — the Amazon's legendary dark earth — from black cotton soil and what the land already gives. We dug out a bed area, framed five beds with wooden poles, and layered each one by hand. Now it rests, drinks water, gets mixed, and sits under a black tarp to cook faster.
THE INGREDIENTS
EACH OF THE 5 BEDS, LAYERED IN ORDER, BOTTOM TO TOP:
Hay at the base
Dried hay first — carbon and air pockets at the bottom of the bed.
Sand on top
A drainage layer over the hay so the stack never waterlogs.
Manure
Dried cow manure — the engine goes in early.
Black cotton on top of the manure
The estate's own stubborn soil, fed from below.
Lime
To balance the acidity of the black cotton.
Manure on top
A second charge of the engine.
Another layer of hay
Slow food and air pockets, mid-stack.
Soil on top
Weight and structure over the carbon layers.
Black cotton
More of the estate soil, now sandwiched deep.
Manure
The final feed before the cap.
Topsoil
Sieved black-cotton topsoil seals the stack — the planting surface.
